Event description
HOOPS AND EVERYTHING
Alt-rock favourites The Rubens announce the final show of their 10 YEARS OF HOOPS celebrations - HOOPS AND EVERYTHING 2 - after the success of the debut of this event at Tumbalong Park as part of SXSW Sydney.
Originally released in 2015, Hoops marked a turning point for the band—catapulting them from promising newcomers to one of Australia’s most beloved live acts. The album spawned hit singles including the title track “Hoops,” which famously took out the #1 spot in triple j’s Hottest 100, and laid the foundation for a career that has seen them headline major venues and festivals around the country.
This special show will see The Rubens dig back into the Hoops era, playing a selection of fan favourites from the record—woven throughout a career-spanning setlist that showcases their evolution across five acclaimed albums. It’s a rare chance to experience the energy of Hoops live in an intimate setting, as the band reflects on where they’ve been and teases what’s to come.
Come and join in the celebrations as The Rubens gear up to release brand-new music from their highly anticipated sixth album.
Joined by Joe Mungovan and his indie based groovy rock with full band in tow as well as Father's Favourite we can't wait to boogie with you all on the hill for a magical night of amazing Australian Live Music.
At the age of nine, a young Joe Mungovan never could have imagined begging his parents for a drum kit for Christmas would pave his way onto some of the most prestigious stages in Australia. When a near fatal skateboard crash would leave him in a wheelchair for 4 months, Joe taught himself guitar and unconsciously developed a style that is now described as 'groove-based indie rock' The now multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer creates music that is always bound to his first love of rhythm, while blending his knack for catchy melodies and introspective storytelling.
Hailing from the heart of a bygone era, Father’s Favourite is a folk rock band fronted by duo Mia and Chèrise. A seamless blend of vintage allure and contemporary flair coming together to create sultry and spellbinding harmonies, they encapsulate their audience into the world of the free-spirited, bohemian era of the 60s/70s rock 'n' roll scene. With each song weaving a story that's as compelling as their harmonies, it's a sonic journey through lush melodies and raw, evocative lyrics, with plenty of cheek. Drawing on influences from blues, country and classic rock, the music of Father’s Favourite is a celebration of the bohemian lifestyle: a fusion of soulful sincerity and rock ‘n’ roll bravado.
