Horowhenua Taste Trail 2022

Experience Horowhenua’s tastiest event - the Horowhenua Taste Trail - showcasing 16 Horowhenua specialist food producers

Join us for the 5th Horowhenua Taste Trail on Saturday 26 November 2022 10 am - 4 pm. We have a variety of ticket options to suit all appetites. We will not be selling any tickets on the day, so you need to pre-purchase if you don’t want to miss out!

The 16 producers are featured on the Trail across seven sites. These producers grow and craft a variety of excellent food, drink and produce, and include: Turk’s Free Range Poulty, Lewis Farms, Woodhaven Gardens, Genoese Foods, Bagrie Dairy Farm, Heights Farms, The NZ Egg Group, Thoroughbread Foods, Ohau Gourmet Mushrooms, The Baked Dane, Potter Brothers, Emoyeni, Elemental Cider, Shirley's Strawberries, Waikōkopu Grove & Orchard and Hemp Connect.

​The Taste Trail is a unique experience where producers open their doors and provide you with an opportunity to experience the paddock-to-plate journey, to see how your food is produced, and then enjoy it directly at its source.  A foodie's dream, with top-notch catering providers partnering with producers to serve the freshest, finest local produce through five signature dishes - the Horowhenua Taster Plates. 

Along the way, you’ll have a chance to purchase other tasty treats and stock up on fresh produce to take home with you.

Ticket options:

Mains ticket
For all the foodies out there, this option allows you to take your own vehicle and go at your own pace while enjoying the Taste Trail produce in its finest form. Includes entry into all seven sites and our five Horowhenua Taster Plates, or for under 12 years, a Taste Trail Lunchbox.

Entry ticket
Take your own vehicle and go at your own pace. Enjoy the Taste Trail your way, with this entry-only ticket. Food is an additional cost on the day.

Deluxe ticket
A bus tour from your chosen location. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the Horowhenua Taste Trail in style. Join a special day out with a tour guide, visits to selected sites, five Horowhenua Taster Plates, entry to a Savour Event, and a must-have Horowhenua Taste Trail Market Bag. (The price is dependent on the start point and departure locations will be confirmed for each bus route in confirmation comms).

Savour Events 

Breakfast at Lewis Farms - Start time 8:15 am
Kick off the day with breakfast at Lewis Farms and the team from Mrs Nubbs.
After your private tour of the pack house, you will be seated at a long table for breakfast, accompanied by a glass of Lauren Perrier.
Choose from 2 breakfast options; 

• Tendertips Asparagus, creamy leeks, spinach, ricotta and baked egg, with toasted bread or;

• Mixed grain porridge with spiced almond milk, Lewis Farms strawberries and toasted hazelnuts. 

Both served with a glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne. Sit back and relax while Lewis farms share their insight into the paddock-to-plate story.

Unwind Session - Lewis Farms - Start time 4:15 pm
It’s been a big day, kick back with a bevy and let the Mrs Nubbs crew help you wrap it up with an Imagination gin bowl at Lewis Farms.
Tuck into a slow-roasted spit roast roll, served with a buffet of salads, grilled asparagus and condiments included.
Your ticket includes your choice of gin bowl, a spit roast roll, and buffet salads.

Unwind Session - Genoese - Start time 4:15 pm
There will be something special going down at the Genoese Foods Site for the unwind session at the end of the day.
Sit back and listen to some groovy sounds from Cam and Jess “Play on Words” and finish off with the last of the Taste Trail delight offerings of the Silere Merino Lamb Burger, Basil Pesto mayo, Slaw and pickles OR Fries with Pesto and Truffle Aioli OR Smoked Chicken with pesto Ricotta, topped off with a Beer or a fresh crisp Elemental Cider.
