Description

If you care about Indigenous justice in the ACT, this event is for you!

Building on the ACT's YES vote in the referendum, Active Democracy Bean partnered with ANTAR in the leadup to the ACT election on a campaign called Beyond The Talk – Indigenous-led Solutions NOW!

There is wide recognition that First Nations people understand best what is required to close the gap, and a systemic shift is needed to support First Nations-identified and led solutions.

Two years on from the election, come and hear from a panel of three fabulous First Nations leaders exploring How are we going with Indigenous-led solutions?

  • Kim Davison, Community Co-chair, interim committee to lead Boomanulla Oval's transition to community control, former CEO Gugan Gulwan Youth Aboriginal Corporation

  • Natalie Brown, Chair of the Our Booris Our Way Implementation Oversight Committee

  • Paula McGrady, Joint Council on Closing the Gap representative for the ACT, former Deputy Chairperson of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body, and an independent candidate for Murrumbidgee in the ACT election

  • MC and journalist Jess Whaler, member of Canberra Health Services Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Leadership Group.

Free event but a small donation would be appreciated to cover printing, stationery and the occasional room hire as we are a small unfunded community group.
