Demystifying Sex Work: How To Book Your First Session (Online)
Event description
If you're over the apps, recently out of a long relationship or after a stint of celibacy you might have considered booking a professional to spend an evening with. But what's the process of you've never taken the leap before?
Clare acknowledges that there's still a mountain of stigma, misinformation and prejudice out there about sex work, which doesn't serve anyone. To combat this, Clare has created a practical and informative online class to introduce you Sex Work from a conscientious client's perspective.Â
This class is based on lived experience as a client of SW, conversations and consultation with workers in the industry, and consuming a ridiculous amount of podcasts, blogs, memoirs and more! (For recommended research see the work of Dr Hilary Caldwell Phd).
The focus of this class will be limited to Australian states where sex work is decriminalised.
This class welcomes all sexual identities.

In this class, topics will include:
- Where to start

Who will be teaching?Â
Clare (she/her) has been teaching for Laneway Learning over the past 10 years, from self-massage and massage exchange, to useful knots and body-positive bushwalking. Her enthusiastic approach to learning and sharing knowledge makes for a fun and interactive experience. Encouraging beginners to understand the basics and build on those skills with low stakes practice is her jam!
Clare acknowledges there is stigma, misinformation and prejudice to dismantle about sex work globally. The focus of this class will be limited to Australian states where sex work is decriminalised, and comes predominantly from the perspective of a neurodivergent female client.
Her research for this class includes lived experience, many hours of scrolling social media, asking questions via NGL links and listening to podcasts, reading blogs and memoirs by sex workers (including a guide by an ex-Laneway Teacher on being a good client), and consulting with a series of SW industry contacts specifically on the nature and usefulness of this class.
Her class fee will be donated to Touching Base.
