How to Help Someone Who Won’t Help Themselves

Event description

It’s hard to see a friend or family member who’s struggling, but it can be just as hard feeling powerless and unable to do anything about it. You want to help and you can see their potential but nothing seems to work.

You try to make suggestions, you give advice, you even issue ultimatums but they seem to make things worse, not just for them, but also for you.

You mean well, but you keep hitting a brick wall.

People often ask me for advice on how to help someone who won’t help themselves, and my answer is always the same - you can’t! But, just imagine if you COULD inspire them to help themselves, and imagine if you could do it without the frustration, exhaustion or friction and without being the “bad guy”.

Well, you can and that’s why I created this informative, practical session for you.

Grab a place at “How to Help Someone Who Won’t Help Themselves” and you will learn:

  • What to say, and how to say it.
  • What to do, and when to do it.
  • How to step back without guilt.
  • How to step in without judging.
  • Why they’re doing what they’re doing.
  • Why it’s so hard for you to do nothing.
  • How to make a point without making it personal.
  • How to set boundaries that don’t make you feel bad.
  • How to create connection instead of friction.

And how to save yourself while you’re out there helping others.

The tools I’ll be giving you in this session are based on science and psychology. You will leave with a practical process for moving forward, and clarity on how you may have been hindering (and making things harder without meaning to), and how to start constructively helping (and making everything easier).

This is a NO blame environment.

You are not required to share your situation.

This session is ideal for:

Parents wanting to know how to support their teenage or adult children better.

Friends wanting to know how to support other friends better.

Employers wanting to know how to motivate their staff better.

A light morning tea will be provided along with a bottomless tea, coffee and water station. You are also very welcome to bring your own if you prefer to.

While this session is educational in nature, it will also be relaxed and and supportive.  Everyone’s privacy and confidentiality will be respected and by purchasing your ticket you are agreeing to not share any personal experiences outside of the event, just as others will be agreeing not to repeat anything you choose to share.

Please bring a notebook, pen and an open mind.
