IN FOR YIN - Winter Workshop
Description
IN FOR YIN - 2 hour workshop
Come and join Annie for 2 hours of gentle Yin Yoga ~ a guided practice suitable for all levels, held at the beautiful Livingroom Yoga Studio Coogee. Learn how to support your body & spirit in the season of Winter. Give yourself the gift of stillness & slowing down this season, just as nature intended. BYO Yoga Mat - all other props provided. No previous experience required. Please note this workshop is limited to 15 spaces.
As the cooler months invite us to slow down and turn inward, IN FOR YIN offers a deeply nourishing and restorative practice designed to support relaxation, stress release, and inner reflection. Inspired by the quieter rhythms of Winter and the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this two-hour experience encourages stillness, rest, and renewal - creating space to reconnect with yourself amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
In TCM, Winter is associated with the water element, connected to the kidneys and urinary bladder, which are believed to store our vital energy, or Qi. This season represents restoration, introspection, and conservation of energy, mirroring nature’s cycle of retreat and renewal. Through long-held yin yoga postures, we gently stimulate the kidney and bladder meridians, helping to support the flow of energy, calm the nervous system, and release deeply held physical and emotional tension. Emotionally, if unbalanced - the water element can be linked to fear and anxiety. When balanced - it cultivates resilience, wisdom, and inner calm. Yin Yoga’s slow, meditative approach invites the body to soften and for the mind to become more spacious.
While many studio classes are often limited to 60 minutes, this extended two-hour offering allows time to move beyond simply “doing” the practice and instead fully settle into its effects. The longer format supports the body in gradually unwinding, the nervous system in down-regulating, and the mind in softening into stillness, offering a deeper opportunity for healing, integration, and rest.
Throughout this offering, you will also be guided through simple and practical tools to help support balance and wellbeing during the winter season. These gentle practices may include breath awareness, grounding rituals, self-care techniques, and seasonal lifestyle suggestions designed to nourish the nervous system, conserve energy, and help you move through winter with greater ease, calm, and connection.
I look forward to seeing you there.
Warmest,
Annie
