In My Father's Footsteps

There are 282 Munros (mountains over 3,000 ft) in Scotland.

In 1972, at the age of 12, Wanaka man Mal Law climbed the first of these iconic peaks with his dad, who just a few years later finished climbing all 282. For Mal, this first summit was the start of a lifelong obsession with peak bagging and his own love affair with the Munros.

Earlier this year - 50 years on from his dad finishing his 'round' - Mal returned to the Highlands with 38 Munros left unticked on his list. He had a short window of time in which to knock them off, but marking the 50th anniversary of his late dad’s pioneering feat gave him extra determination to get the job done.

Mal's talk will feature some stunning photography, clips from a forthcoming film about this mission and plenty of laughs. There will be time for Q&A at the end too.

All proceeds will be donated to the Backcountry Trust to help preserve New Zealand’s rich history of remote huts and tracks.

Doors open 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
