Event description

Community, change and creativity

On this tour discover the unique story of the Incinerator Gallery and its architectural, environmental and technological history. Regarded as a significant building by the National Trust the striking Essendon Incinerator, designed by the offices of Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahoney, set new standards in Australia for municipal architecture and its integration into suburbia.

Once a wetland by the Maribyrnong River, the Incinerator with its fascinating past is now the heart of Moonee Valley and a venue that provides the community with opportunities to engage with art, architecture and the environment.

Incinerator History Tours are led by trained Volunteer Guides.
