Intermediate Hand Building 10 Week Course
Event description
Tutored by Tracey Richards
Take your ceramics practice to the next level with this 10-week Intermediate Hand-building Course. Designed for those who have already completed a beginner course or have some prior hand-building experience, this course focuses on refining techniques, exploring more complex forms, and developing your individual style.
You'll revisit core methods like pinching, coiling, and slab-building with greater depth, while also being introduced to advanced techniques such as Kurinuki (carving from a solid block), advance decoration technique and sgraffito. The course encourages larger-scale projects, experimentation with texture and surface design, and deeper conceptual thinking in your work.
Whether you're aiming to create functional pottery or sculptural pieces, this course provides a supportive space to push your creative boundaries and build confidence in your ceramic skills.
You will develop:
• Deeper technical skills in hand building and surface decoration
• Experience working on larger, more ambitious ceramic forms
• Confidence in developing personal projects and creative expression
• A strong foundation in both functional and sculptural ceramic practices
Term 4 commences:
Tuesday 9th October from 9:30am-12:00pm
