It has been fifteen years since Australia ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In the wake of the Final Report of the Disability Royal Commission and the new National Disability Strategy, we ask: what progress has been achieved?

In this hybrid event to mark the 2023 International Day of People with Disabilities, we bring together a panel of leading experts to confront this challenging question.

Rosemary Kayess, human rights lawyer, major contributor to the Convention and chair of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Fiona Mckenzie, activist, former chair of the Board of the Council for Intellectual Disability and current Vice Chairperson of CID.
Professor Julian Trollor, Professor of Intellectual Disability Mental Health at UNSW
