Introduction to Cyanotype (Sun Printing)

Learn the simple, eco-friendly cyanotype process from a professional artist and educator! Cyanotypes are a historic photographic technique that produces stunning, rich blue prints — perfect for capturing the delicate beauty of nature. We'll start by finding and collecting suitable subject matter to work with (think plants, dried flowers, bits of cloth and anything you might find in your junk drawer!), then arrange them into original compositions. Eric will guide each participant through the exposure and processing steps, ensuring beautiful results. Every participant takes home their prints as one-of-a-kind artworks and will also have a folder, instructions and picture frame for displaying their work and continuing to explore the process. Suitable for ages 10+.

Reviews from previous workshop participants:

"Excellent intro to this easy, interesting manner of thoughtful interaction with nature and light. Eric is a great teacher, describing the variables which affect the results, at the same time as providing a relaxed atmosphere for this time-sensitive craft. We’ll surely work this art form into our nature-based activities." - Norris

"We had the most amazing experience learning about an art form that you don’t get to see very often. It was so fun and hands on. Thank you Eric for a wonderful experience and sharing all your knowledge with us. I can’t wait to use the knowledge for my own art. Don’t miss out on this experience, you’ll have forever memories." - Carla

"If you’re on the fence about whether to take one of Eric’s workshops…climb over, you won’t regret it. First of all, Eric is a genuinely lovely person, but he is also very knowledgeable about Cyanotype art and provides a really fun experience. We loved every minute and would love to come back and take another workshop!" - Catherine
