Event description

Our first introductory session is designed to get you feeling comfortable and confident with what’s what under the hood of your car. Let us talk you through our car, or bring your own vehicle to start developing your understanding of your own engine bay (bae).

Objectives: Introduce core parts, function and terminology.

Activities: Walk around and familiarise yourself with your engine bay with support from our instructor.

Outcomes: Participants will understand the fundamentals of their own car.

Our workshops are an interactive and fun way to learn about your car, what maintenance you can do to prolong the life of your car (and save money), how to talk to a mechanic and what to do in an emergency.

We provide a safe space for you to: ask questions, let go of any shame of being an uneducated car owner, and become a more confident driver.

These workshops are interactive with no confusing, over-your-head car talk.

Practical and easy tips and lessons like, what is the purpose of coolant? What do the letters on the side of my tire mean? What can I touch under the hood of my car? What should I not touch?

Venue: Workshop will be delivered outdoors in a car park by the Coburg Leisure Centre. Please dress comfortably for the weather! There is a wheelchair accessible bathroom in the centre adjacent to the carpark, and a public accessible toilet in the carpark itself.

Please wear a mask! To best ensure participants can hear in the outdoor environment, our facilitator will not be wearing a mask. However participants are asked to please wear a mask to this workshop.

This session will take place on unceded Wurundjeri Country.
