Women's Healing Imbolc Weaving Workshop

Price $55 – $140 AUD + BF Get tickets

Event description

This workshop is time and space for you as women who hold space and nurture so many.

Join me on this creative journey, where the art of weaving and the practice of deep listening converge, creates a sacred space for self-reflection, connection, and inner peace.
In this workshop, we will combine the ancient art of weaving with the power of your intuition and your ancestral remembering’s as we honour Imbolc and create intentions for the Spring and future.

Imbolc is the celebration of the imminent arrival of Spring. White and green candles are lit, homes decorated once again with garlands and fresh native flowers, and thanks is given that warmth is returning to the earth. Imbolc is a celebration of all that is fresh, new and young, and is also a celebration of the Goddess as Virgin. It is a particularly feminine festival, sacred to women.

Imbolc celebrates the banishing of winter, and the stirring of new life in the earth. The word imbolc literally means “ewe’s milk” in Old English, and the festival heralds the first of the spring lambs.

At Imbolc, the newborn Sun God is depicted as a small child nursing from his mother. At this time, some Wiccan traditions initiate new members into the Craft and into their covens. Other traditions at this time are to light all the lights in the home for a few minutes in honour of the sun’s rebirth, and to recognise and work with new ideas, and new beginnings, within ourselves. We will be exploring a series of Imbolc rituals including Lighting the Flames of Hope, Brigid's Blessings and honouring the Seeds of Growth.

We'll be using the very magical Bungalow Palm inflorescences to weave our intention setting. I'll walk you through the foraging and harvesting of the material and then how to prepare it for weaving. Then we explore the magic of basketry and random weave techniques so set you off on a journey of personal discovery.

Please bring: notebook and pen / water / yoga matt + cushion (floor sitting) / a photo of you as a small child / a feather / any personal items or symbols representing creativity and inspiration.
All weaving materials will be supplied.

Here's what people are saying:-

"Fantastic experience. I loved the chance to work with my hands and it reminds me I need to do it more often!!"

"What I loved was the inspiration of what we feel, not what we think we should be doing."

"I'm walking away with more self admiration, more belief in my self; a new skill, relaxation and meeting new humans.

"I loved connecting with the palm and to my hands and becoming more confident in its handling as I went along."

"Sarah, I loved your enthusiasm and love for what you do and your knowledge of your art. I loved the silence while we created as everyone was deeply connecing in."
