Event description

No matter how drought tolerant they may be, California native plants still need water. Even during the dormant period, it's wise to hydrate in order to get them through the brutal summer. But there's so many questions: Which plants need more attention? When to do it? How much to water?

Irrigation 101: Learn about a variety of irrigation methods, to help manage your native garden during these dry months. Get tips on benefits and drawbacks for overhead, drip and hand-watering equipment. Bring sun protection and a water bottle.

This walk and talk will be held outdoors in our demonstration gardens. We ask guests to wear closed-toe shoes, sun protection, and to prepare for up to one hour of walking on sloped and uneven surfaces. Water bottles are strongly recommended.

Erik Blank is a long-time California native plant enthusiast with professional experience in restoration, installation and maintenance. He joined the TPF staff in June of 2020 working in Horticulture and Education.

Refund Policy: If you are feeling sick or experiencing covid-19 symptons we urge you to stay home. Please note refunds/credit are not available within 7 days of the event.
