In the cellars of Cerbaia, Podere La Cappella, La Gerla, and Giacosa Fratelli, Ken Gargett and our team observed winemakers meticulously tending to each barrel, crafting wines that embody their unique terroirs and tell a story of dedication and refinement. Ken Gargett
Wine Writer

Born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland, our gracious host enjoyed a perfectly happy childhood in a family staunchly opposed to alcohol. He initially pursued a conventional path, studying law at Queensland University. However, a fateful fishing trip on the Great Barrier Reef, where he tasted a good bottle of port, ignited a serious obsession with wine. This passion led him to study and work in London, Washington DC, and Sydney in banking law before returning to Queensland. Encouraged by friends aware of his wine enthusiasm, he transitioned from law to wine writing, eventually becoming a full-time wine writer, much to the amusement and occasional dismay of his family.

Today, he is a distinguished writer on wine and spirits, contributing to publications such as Drinks, Explore, AGT Wine Magazine, UK World of Fine Wine, Fine Group, and tastingbook.com. He has also written weekly columns for the Courier Mail and various other magazines, as well as content for spitbucket.com. Beyond wine, he writes about cigars, fishing, travel, and food. When not writing, he enjoys fly-fishing, traveling, and passionately supporting his favorite sports teams, including the Queensland Reds rugby team, Washington Redskins, Arsenal, and the Australian cricket team. His rich experiences and diverse interests make him an engaging and knowledgeable guide through the world of wine.
