Event description

Neshima - Jewish Mindful Breathwork workshop.

You are invited to experience the wonders of the jewish/spiritual Mindful Breathwork - Connecting in meaningful ways.  each time there is a different theme we we study jewish text and practice it in a form of mindfulness or breathwork activity.

In this workshop we will continue exploring intentions or KAVANA.

2/7/23 3:00-6:30 PM at Tribe Connections 187 Gilbert St, Latrobe.

As I am deeply embedded in the Jewish faith and tradition, I will bring in the elements and practices from this faith. However, there are many common elements in most religions and you are invited to explore the spiritual aspects of breathwork in whatever perspective that is meaningful for you.

A portion of all earnings will go to Bet Chabad Tasmania a non- for - profit that provides spiritual, material and social support for the Jewish community in Tasmania (and to whoever wants to learn and experience). Helping them to stay connected to their heritage.

What is Jewish Mindful Breathwork?

There are many forms of breath work and the place of breathing techniques in personal growth has rich traditions that go back centuries, including in the jewish tradition, referenced in the Zohar and Kabbalah.

There is a growing understanding of the involvement of the body in holding trauma, depression and anxiety (Pizur Hanefesh).  Many therapeutic approaches focus solely on the mind to be treated without consideration that the contents of the mind are embodied and spirited.

Breathwork in this context combines elements of mindfulness, Jewish scripts, quotes and blessings, creating an experiential environment for the practice of Hitbonenut  (contemplation) and Kavana (intention) using the breath-Neshima, to connect to the Neshama- soul. A Body-mind-spirit experience intended to facilitate emotional expression in a non-judgmental and safe way. Connecting to subcutaneous, God, the divine, the universe or however you would like to call it.

This breathwork component is a guided active breathing technique, done lying down (or seated if needed) with Hebrew (and jewish) spiritual oriented text and music. That creates physiological changes in the body including increased serotonin and oxytocin. Individuals commonly experience strong emotion, sensations, thoughts or spiritual experiences during this process, with high levels of serotonin and oxytocin present, even if the experience is challenging, it is perceived with a sense of safety, acceptance and wellbeing.

Who does it fit?

You are welcome to join this session regardless your faith and religion.

As in this technique the Breather (participant) can choose how "deep" they would like to go, it fits almost everyone who wishes to explore their inner and spiritual world and is willing to step out of their comfort zone. This setting does NOT fit people with epilepsy, asthma, pregnant women or people who should avoid cardio activity. If you have one of the above please discuss with us before registering.

What to bring?

Mattresses will be provided. Please bring a sheet, warm blanket, comfortable clothing, water bottle and notebook and a pen.
