The King of King Street launches a new album of his original songs taking his Urban and Western sound into bold new places.
After two recent albums in the Raining Treasure series of Australian indie covers, John Kennedy And The New Originals is the first release of John Kennedy originals since 2017’s JFK and the Midlife Crisis. It will also be his last release before leaving Australia later this year to live in Spain for an extended period. The result reinforces Kennedy’s Urban and Western sound and also pushes it into new directions. Krautrock, anybody?Kennedy leaves Australia in June 2023 to live for an extended period in Spain. With this new originals album he is going out at the top of his game. The album is probably the best collection of his original songs he has ever worked on. With band mates Peter Timmerman on drums, guitarist Murray Cook and bassist Phil Hall, who has come into his own with arrangement ideas, additional instrumentation and co-production, Kennedy is working with the best band he's ever played with. He is also singing better than he's ever done. His talent has shone through, the perseverance has paid off and with this album Kennedy leaves the Australian indie music scene on a career high.Stephanie Marchant and the Ugly Truth are the special guest support act for this album launch.
