Event description

JOHNNY BATCHELOR PARTY
w/ LIGHTNIN' BURNS

+ ANDY OPHEE & THE OVERNIGHT LOWS

SUNDAY 5TH OCTOBER - 4PM
Live at The Servo, Port Kembla.

Port Kembla’s musical hub, the fabulous Servo Food Truck Bar, will be host to a Johnny Batchelor Party on SUNDAY 5th OCTOBER. It will be an afternoon of converging pop-musical influences from eclectic-post-punk-pop, to swampy blues and outlaw country.

The Johnny Batchelor Party, featuring Yani Socratous (The Groove & Beatmiesters), Lee Borkman (Dragon, Divinyls, to name a few) and Anthony Pingnam (The Numbered), with Spill Kit and Steve Robinson's Post Social Experiment: it will be a night of revelation and definitely not one to miss.

Johnny Batchelor has a history within Australian music dating from the notorious 80s Sydney scene: His band Dropbears shone brightly and seemed to be everywhere, appearing on Countdown and touring with the major acts of the time including U2, The Cure, New Order and INXS. His songs … well, Fun Loving is an Aussie indie classic, ProudShall We GoIn Your Eyes and Work and Save were all over the airwaves - check out the so 80s videos @dropbears80s.

Johnny’s been releasing new tunes since mid 2024 and the response has been sensational: streams for the EP have just clicked over 260,000 (Spotify) and are continuing to build; Johnny’s video creations have exceeded 280,000 views on YouTube (@lanewaymusic and @dropbears80s); plus there's been widespread indie radio airplay in the US and UK (Bad Mood Bad Groove has debuted at No.12 on The Indie Radio Alliance Top 100 (Jan. 15 ’25) and Anemone made Bill Kelly’s top ten picks for 2024 on Little Steven’s Underground Garage and SiriusXM). Proud Kind Man  released on February 17, made No.7 on The Indie Radio Alliance Top 100. Johnny’s latest release, Walking On A Wire, will be hitting the airwaves just in time for the Servo on May 23.

Johnny’s new band features Yani Socratous (The Groove & Beatmiesters), Lee Borkman (Dragon, Divinyls …) and Anthony Pingnam (The Numbered).
