Event description
ABOUT JOSH
Joshua's passion for the drum-set came into fruition when he was at Just 15 years of age, when asked to fill in the chair as the drummer for his high school big band. From humble beginnings, the "consistently exciting and engaging" jazz drummer is rapidly establishing himself as a skilled freelancer, and educator within the city of Brisbane. As a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Joshua has had the great fortune of being mentored by some of Australia's finest national, and international jazz musicians; such as the illustrious, John Parker, Paul Hudson, Steven Newcomb, James Sandon, and John Hoffman. Josh has also had the opportunity to study under some of the greatest jazz drummers around, these being John Riley (NY), Evan Sherman (NY) and Kenny Washington (NY).
Joshua will be joined by a powerhouse band of Brisbane’s finest working musicians: Eden Armstrong (piano), Gabe Garcia (trumpet), Connor Sharpe (Tenor) and Connor Perkins (Bass). The group will playing classics as well as not-so common tunes by the likes of Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Mingus, and Jeff Tain Watts. This is a night that is not to be missed!
