Joshua Hatcher Quartet

Co-hosted by Brisbane International Jazz Festival

Fine-tuning their sound for the past year, these four musicians explore how to make the music swing even when it's not swinging. The band's repertoire focusses on original jazz compositions by Hatcher that draw heavily on the guitarisms of Julian Lage, John Scofield and Bill Frisell. Especially for this performance, some new material will be premiered to celebrate the 2025 Brisbane International Jazz Festival.

This performance will also be the final week of Ben Hauptmann's tenure as a JMI lecturer. Ben has been an integral part of the JMI family since 2013 and has had a massively profound impact on so many students and musicians in Brisbane during this time. Come help us send off Ben with all the love of the Brisbane jazz community! There will be jams with Ben after the gig too, so you can have one last fun hit with him as a JMI lecturer.
