Event description

Presenting the first album in 6 years by Dutch-French multi-instrumentalist and sound designer Julien Mier; Gradually will be released on the 20th of June internationally on Barcelona imprint Lapsus Records (previously releasing Suzanne Ciani, μ-Ziq and Legowelt) After a sold-out first show in January at the Petersham Bowling Club, Julien returns to dive into an electronic genre-less, meditative and texturally sculpted ambient & rhythmic world. Gradually tells the story of exploring, shaping and maturing over years of search of identity.

Accompanied on the night, we will dive into the music worlds of Land Systems and Sofia Carey.

Land Systems is the melodic ambient project of Eora/Sydney-based producer Nathan Moas. His music explores the more ethereal aspects of ambient music by combining slow-evolving melodies with lush effect processing. Central to the project is a euro- rack modular synthesizer that is sequenced and looped, which allows his performances to be fully live and improvised.

Sofia Carey is a musician based in Eora/Sydney. She is inspired by many corners of the sonic world, deriving influence for her solo project from the nuances of singer/ songwriter sounds, ambient music, experimental electronic music and more. Sofia’s vast array of influences are channeled into her eclectic sound in subtle and obvious ways. Her solo project initially stood firmly in her singer/ songwriter roots, playing acoustic sets, whereas she now also explores the use of electronics in her live performances, as inspired by the sound-scapey and experimental sounds she has always gravitated towards. Focussing on lyric and texture, Sofia hopes to lull audiences into a (somewhat somber) meditative state through her music.
