A fun explorative art class for the young creative child aged 5-8.
What will be covered in this course?
Students will be exposed to a range of artist mediums such as charcoal, pastels, graphite, collage, watercolour and more! Students will get hands-on art making experience with fun activities that introduce them to the Elements of Art & Principles of Design. Students are encourage to start thinking about their art making in technical terms and begin mindfully experimenting and creating. Each project is accompanied by proven step-by-step worksheets about design, colour, form, space and texture.
By the end of this course students will:
Each week students will experiment with a different medium and create a unique artwork illustrating a fundamental principle of art. By the end of the course, students should have a range of finished artworks in a number of mediums they can proudly hang on the fridge!

LOCATION: Woolgoolga Gallery 73 Turon Parade Woolgoolga
TIME: Tuesday 4:30-5:30pm
DURATION: 10 weeks
WHEN: 30th April - 2nd July

COST: $200 per term (Includes all art materials)
Children will need to bring:
- An A4 or A3 size visual arts diary
- A4 display folder to store handouts
- Wear enclosed shoes
- Optional: “Old Art clothes”
- A drink bottle and snacks
The teacher supplies all other art materials
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Jess is a professional artist, face painter and published author. She has exhibited and sold her works both locally and internationally. She studied a Bachelor of Fine Art and has a Diploma of Visual Arts at Tafe NSW.
She has been working with children and teaching the arts for over 5 years. She founded Woolgoolga Art School in 2023, is a professional face painter on the weekends and runs private Paint & Sip parties.
In her personal arts practise she primarily works with acrylic paints, graphite, charcoal & pastels, depicting the human form.
As a mental health advocate, Jess is passionate about the therapeutic benefits of art making. She has a certificate in Art Therapy and her approach to teaching is a mixture of technical tuition, encouraging creative experimentation and building self esteem.
Her classes focus on establishing the foundations of art theory and then applying that knowledge to artworks.
