Kiama Coastal Community Planting @ Bombo
Event description
Join us for a Community Planting Day at Bombo as part of the Kiama Coastal Community Plantings Project.
We have 300 native trees, shrubs, grasses, and ground covers ready to be planted—and we need your help! Whether you're a long-time Landcare supporter or just curious about getting involved, this is a fantastic way to learn, connect, and make a real impact. Families and children are welcome.
This is your chance to:
- Meet a local Landcare group and see their work in action
- Contribute to restoring and protecting the Kiama Coast Walk’s unique coastal environment
- Learn how easy it is to make a difference in your own community
All plants come from local community nurseries, ensuring they are native and suited to the area.
What to bring & expect
- Wear covered shoes, long sleeves, long pants, and a hat
- Bring a water bottle and any favourite gardening digging tools (we’ll have extras!)
- Meet at the Bombo Beach carpark at 9am for a site briefing and sign-in
- Help plant, stake, mulch, and water our new seedlings
- Wrap up with a light morning tea—we’ll provide tea, coffee, and treats!
About Bombo Headland Landcare
Bombo Headland has undergone a remarkable transformation. Once completely cleared for quarrying and farming, this site has been regenerated over 30 years by dedicated Landcare volunteers. They have removed invasive weeds and brought back much of the endangered Littoral Rainforest, creating a thriving habitat for native wildlife. While huge progress has been made, this large site still needs ongoing care.
This event is part of our Kiama Coastal Community Planting Program, supported by a Landcare Australia grant through the BUPA Healthy Cities Landcare Grants program.
