Kind mathematics — reuniting rigour with creativity, confidence and joy

A brand new workshop for adults and students aged 15+

Explore playful and collaborative activities which are inclusive of all participants, and give you the flexibility to engage at levels of challenge that feel right for you. After our short time together, all attendees will have had opportunities to see mathematics in new and exciting ways. 

Designed for people who relate to one or more of the following...

• You're curious to explore the myths and truths of mathematics; e.g. How every person is a maths person, How mathematics is visual, tactile and creative; How understanding is more important than speed
• You've often felt intimidated or disconnected from maths are curious about how to change this
• You like the idea of learning maths knowledge and skills through play and want a piece of that pie!
• You're curious about enjoying mathematics as a leisure activity akin to reading literature
• You want to support others in your life to develop a positive maths mindset by learning more about what matters most when learning mathematics 
• You enjoy opportunities to connect with like-minded community members, learn new things and develop new perspectives

What to expect

Community Learning: Enjoy learning not just from the facilitator, but from each other's mathematical ideas.

Playful Activities: Together we'll explore mathematical ideas and practise skills in ways that are PLAYFUL (not PAINFUL!) 

Guidance and Support: Facilitators will provide clear instructions and helpful tips to ensure everyone feels confident and included.

Tue 18th March 2025, 4:30PM - 5:30 PM AEDT

Doors will open at 4:15PM so we can be ready for a prompt start to our workshop!

Participants are welcome to hang around until 6:00PM to continue maths playing a little longer.
