Serving opportunities
Kids Take Over is a large event that takes a variety of volunteers and skillsets to ensure that it’s an unforgettable week for the hundreds of kids (and their families!) that participate.
KTO Leader
Be part of a large team that is leading life groups and joining with kids through the Take That or Take One programs throughout the full week of Kids Take Over.
Support Team
Along with our life group leaders, we also rely on the experience and support of extra volunteers to help fill a variety of additional roles in the lead up to, and during the week of Kids Take Over.
IN THE LEAD UP TO KIDS TAKE OVER
- Creative – We put a lot of time and effort into transforming our property to look and feel incredible for KTO by creating an environment where kids and their families are amazed, energised and feel safe. This requires a lot of work in the weeks leading up to KTO; everything from cutting, painting, constructing, and setting up spaces in this year’s theme. Whether you’re a creative or just happy to paint some sets, our creative team welcomes your help! Times and availability are flexible (evenings and weekdays).
- Admin – There is a lot of administration required for an event this size. In the lead up to KTO, there is a variety of admin jobs to be done. For example; making nametags, laminating, packing life group resources… etc. Times and availability are flexible.
DURING THE WEEK OF KIDS TAKE OVER
- Pastoral and Inclusion Support – This team is rostered on throughout the week to provide additional support and care to kids and leaders. With over 400 kids attending the program and 100+ teens and young adults leading, there is a vast array of support needed. Whether that’s caring for a child who needs one-on-one support, encouraging young leaders who are feeling weary or out of their depth managing behaviours in their group, or connecting with a parent who is nervous about dropping their kids off. You’ll be rostered on to help in one of these areas as part of this team.
- Hospitality – There are a range of opportunities to provide hospitality for KTO. From organising brunch for our leaders gathering the weekend before, making and serving coffees at the coffee cart each morning, baking or prepping food for our daily leader’s afternoon teas or helping at our
parent’s morning tea on the Wednesday morning of KTO. - Sport & Craft – Each day of KTO we run two sessions of sports and craft for our Take One kids. Marvellous Creations is our craft session, and we’ll need volunteers to help facilitate these sessions by prepping the crafts and helping kids make their creation. Our sports session requires volunteers to help set up, crowd control and supervise the kids as a group activity or game is facilitated.
- Tech and Production – Each day of KTO starts with an all-in session in the main auditorium with worship, teaching and life groups. To ensure our sessions run smoothly we need a team of people on our tech team. This includes running sound, lighting, media. There are also some production roles throughout the day, such as taking photos or videos and assisting electives with tech requirements, etc. Basic tech skills would be helpful for these roles.
- First Aid – Are you a nurse? Or have a current CPR and First Aid certificate? Our first aid team are rostered on throughout the week to provide basic first aid as needed, manage medical plans, administer medications, as well as keep an eye on and support kids who have medical conditions or allergies.
Whatever skills you have, and wherever you might be able to serve, we would love to have you as part of the KTO team!
