Kyla-Rae Ashworth — Performance Residency

We're pleased to host flautist Kyla-Rae Ashworth for our second redux of Residence. Recently returned from overseas studies with Jana Winderen at Camp in the French pyrenees, presenting her first solo improvisation at Outcome Unknown (and extensively volunteering to prop up the bump-in Audible Edge '26*), Tone List hopes this residency is a timely opportunity to focus, experiment and obtain feedback.

Our performance residency series is about offering a musician an opportunity to "sharpen the sword" and test experimental ideas through back-to-back nightly concerts. This is a rarity in Boorloo, where experimental gigs are still relatively infrequent. But it's essential to really develop some experimental music practices, which thrive on the energy brought by an audience.

_____g.s's gallery space is very small, and these performance are deliberately low pressure & micro-scale. You need to book in advance to attend.

About Rae:

Kyla-Rae Ashworth is a Boorloo-based musician who has studied and performed internationally across a range of genres. She is currently discovering what it really means to be a person who can play the flute.

About the series:

Residence was founded by Dan O'Connor (Tone List's founder) in 2017 and hosted Dan O'Connor, Sage Pbbbt, Tchake, Sound of the Mountain, Kok Siew-Wai & Yong Yandsen. It was on hiatus since 2019 and re-instigated in partnership with underscore in 2025 with a residency for Raras Sukardi.

Accessibility:

The space is wheelchair accessible via a ramp at the courtyard entrance of the venue.

The performances are held in a very small space which will likely feel a little crowded. Limited seating is available.

Lighting is a mixture of overhead fluros (in the studio spaces) and dim stage lighting in the gallery, with a large window from the street.

Performances may be very loud at times.
