Lasa - A Taste of Filipino Home Cooking
Event description
For the month of September, Anna will be sharing two classic Filipino delicacies. Two vegan and gluten free dishes that you can easily make at home.
SUMAN is a traditional glutinous rice cake cooked in coconut milk wrapped in banana leaves. It is served with a thick coconut sauce called latik and a sprinkling of toasted coconuts. A vegan and gluten free dessert or merienda (snack).
PALITAW is another traditional rice cooked in boiling water until it floats (litaw in Tagalog) where the name comes from. The texture is similar to mochi, chewy and complemented with the fresh grated coconut topping, coconut sugar and toasted sesame seeds.
The activity is an interactive cooking demo, where participants will have the opportunity to learn to wrap the rice cake, we'll cook and eat our creations.
Recipe cards will be provided to all participants and all dishes made will be taken home.
Join Anna in this fun cooking activity guaranteed to teach you more about Filipino cuisine beyond adobo.
The Kitchen is located inside the North Sydney Community Centre. Parking is available at the Ridge Street Car Park.
