Description

A yoga Nidrã series of classes, hosted at Lilā Yoga Studio, Bruntsfield, Edinburgh

10am every Wednesday

Late April through to early July (Except May 20th - no class on this day)

There isn't a sweeter gift you could give yourself, your loved ones or our beloved Earth than the gift of Doing Feck All.

In laying down your weary heart to slumber and dream, you are taking a radical stand. You are stepping off the capitalist, patriarchal, industrialist, colonialist merry-go-round that is the system of society we live in...

Yoga Nidrã is a beautiful act of resistance & reMatriation (returning your body to the land).

There is wisdom in the practice of surrender, of going inward, in finding silence and stillness.

Classes usually begin with adding our objects to the altar, a wee prayer to earth & cosmos, some breath & body movement, some writing/drawing exercises. Classes always end with some Chai, intuitively pulling some cards & sweet conversation...

The Yoga Nidrã will likely involve some lullabillic (!?!) instrumentation and song.

Recordings of the sessions will be sent out, via email, later in the day, so you can practice at home

No prior experience necessary. Please bring comfy, warm layers, a favourite blanket or treasured pillow...anything that will make you feel extra nestled during the session.

It is a JOY to share Yoga Nidrã. I hope you will join me.

FAQ's

  • What is Yoga Nidrã?

A very ancient, reclined meditation whose origins can be traced back to South East Asia and whose influence & process can be found mirrored in many indigenous traditions across the Earth. For this is the practice Of the Earth herself. This is 'ma's technology', as said by one of my teachers - Yoli Maya Yeh.

If you are entirely new to Yoga Nidrã here are some of my most favourite definitions of what it is:

    - A form of Conscious Relaxation.

    - A guided meditation that involves getting as relaxed and comfortable as possible

    - Yogic Sleep or Sleep of the Yogi (or Yogini)

    - A deep & extended Savasana (for those who adhere to yoga jargon)

    - A deep, extended & consciously structured nap (for those who do not adhere to yogajargon)

    - Restoration of Cyclic Rhythm

    - Therapeutic by Nature (adaptogenic too; in other words: YOU will receive, from it, what is YOURS to receive; One single nidra could provide a spectrum of medicines to each individual depending on their needs, conditions & constitutions...

    - A Goddess

    - A practice of Restoration and Revival

    - Dreamtime Practice

    - A blesséd opportunity to REST

    The list goes on...
