Unfortunately, we cannot teach you on your own machine or assist you with fixing your machine at this program.

The following options may meet your needs:

    • If you are looking for more general sewing or sewing machine advice, try our Sewing Support program on Sunday afternoons.

    • If you need advice or assistance with repairing a sewing machine, try the Parks Repair Cafe, 2nd Sunday of the month.

  • This session doesn't work for me - do you offer other sewing programs?

Yes! We also offer the following programs - Bookings Essential:

(Click on the program names for more details)

    Sewing Support

    Sundays, 1pm-4pm
Got a sewing project in mind but not sure how to make it a reality? Join our skilled volunteers for creative advice on sewing, costume design and repairing or modifying clothes.

This is not a sewing class and you must know the basics of using a sewing machine to attend.

    Sewing Machine Basics

4th Sunday of the Month, 12pm-1pm
Learn the basics of using a sewing machine from threading it, to sewing straight lines with confidence. Suitable for complete beginners.

  • Can I come along just to use the sewing machine for my own project?

Learn to Sew is a formal, class-style program, designed to help you learn basic sewing skills to get you started on your sewing journey. If you have your own sewing project/s that you wish to work on, we can offer the following alternatives:

    • If you would like advice and guidance while working on your project, try our Sewing Support program on Sunday afternoons.

    • If you are happy to work independently, you can use one of our public sewing machines at the Parks, Port Adelaide or Greenacres Libraries during library opening hours. Please contact the relevant library for more information

  • Do you do mending or alterations?

No, PAE Libraries does not offer mending or alteration services. This program is designed to help you learn basic sewing skills so you can do these tasks yourself.

If you’re looking for guidance on mending or altering your own clothing, we recommend attending our Sewing Support program on Sunday afternoons, where our sewing volunteers can offer advice and assistance.

  • Do you have sewing patterns or sewing books?

At our sewing programs, we have a selection of easy-to-follow, beginner sewing patterns available for you to use.

There is also a huge range of Sewing Books and eBooks to borrow from the library - all available for FREE with your library card!
