Life Drawing Session 1-4pm

A relaxed and supportive life drawing session designed for beginners and those wanting to refresh their drawing skills. Working with a live nude model, this guided workshop introduces fundamental techniques for observational figure drawing. Through a series of timed poses, you’ll explore proportion, gesture, and line in a creative and respectful environment.

What will be covered in this course

Figure proportion and anatomy basics, quick sketching techniques (gesture and contour drawing), tips for observing and translating form, working with tone and shadow using graphite and charcoal.

By the end of this course students will: have practised a variety of life drawing techniques, gained insight into observational drawing methods and produce a range of drawings from short to long poses.

This class is for: Adults aged 18+ of all skill levels. Ideal for complete beginner and anyone interested in trying life drawing in a friendly and inclusive setting.

Bring your own materials

Students should bring their own preferred drawing materials. Suggested materials: ink, pastels, charcoal, paint, graphite pencils (2B, 4B)and A2 paper. Some paper and drawing materials will be supplied.

TIME: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

DURATION: 3 hours (including short breaks)

COST: Member $35 / Non Member - $45 includes the hire of model for 3 hours

ABOUT THE TUTOR

The class will be led by an experimental and gestural drawer with over 9 years' experience teaching in a secondary school setting. They are passionate about playful approaches to drawing and love exploring the human form in new and interesting ways. Their supportive and hands-on style helps students break away from rigid expectations and discover confidence in mark-making
