Literature on the Edge: Asian Literary Studies Today
Event description
This workshop aims to chart the edges of Asian literary studies today with a view to developing a grant proposal or related research collaboration in 2026. It will begin with participants sharing our sense of "where the edge is" in our particular fields within Asian literary studies, raising key debates and questions that are important to our work. We will then discuss possibilities in four sites that take us to the edge: translation practices, creative methods, gender studies, and transdisciplinary approaches. Our goal is to explore organic spaces for collaboration that amplify the ways CHL research is breaking new ground in Asian literary studies.
All CHL colleagues working on Asian literature, or from related disciplines that intersect with any aspect of literature, are warmly invited to join. Participants should be interested in potentially joining in a team of researchers on a grant application. Morning tea and a light lunch will be provided. Please register your attendance for catering purposes.
This event is supported by Gender, Media and Cultural Studies in the School of Culture, History and Language and the CHL Research Committee.
