Description

Join Jim O’Gorman, where he demonstrates how managing microbiology can balance the chemistry in your soil.

An amazing chance for Waitaki gardeners and land stewards to experience this internationally-recognized soil scientist who researches our own North Otago soils - locally relevant and globally important.

Jim's life’s work is aimed at solving some of the big problems of our times: topsoil loss and land degradation. He’s recognized internationally for his research into the technology of building living soil.

Jim, who’s been dubbed “the Dirt Doctor” and has been invited to share his research at a number of international agricultural conferences, grows superb vegetables and researches soil care and remediation at his research lab in Kakanui.

His collaborative, long-term research project documents the how to utilize land to produce high-quality outputs, while not just maintaining but improving soil fertility, and reducing/eliminating harmful byproducts such as nitrogen run-off.

Jim has recently published a book documenting his soil science learnings, which will be available to purchase on the day.
