Lord Mayor's World Stroke Day Morning Tea
2026 Lord Mayor's World Stroke Day Morning Tea
The Lord Mayor's World Stroke Day Morning Tea brings our community together each year to hear the latest research from HMRI's Brain Health Research program, to listen to people share their lived experience, and to recognise the local services, including Headstart ABI Services that support recovery, sometimes for a lifetime.
This year's theme for World Stoke Day is #ActFAST - every minute counts. Your action today could change a life tomorrow. Time isn’t just brain. It’s someone you love.
Two in every three stroke survivors experience long-term complications or disabilities.
Fast action on stroke can dramatically reduce the amount of damage caused.
This increases the chances of a near or full recovery.
Fast action doesn’t just save lives – it helps people live their best life.
Newcastle is home to researchers whose work is improving prevention, treatment and recovery, and to survivors, families and carers whose advocacy shapes how we respond. This morning tea is a wonderful opportunity to learn, and share, and care about the lives of people affected by stroke.
Tickets are free but strictly limited.
