Event description

The City of Vincent is hosting two workshops all about low-waste gifting! Come and learn some creative ideas on how to make your own low waste gifts, and how to utilise reusable wrapping techniques.

Please note each workshop is ticketed separately and registrations in advance are essential. Below is a summary of what each workshop is about.

Low-waste gift making with Peg Davies (Lessen With Peg)

Time: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

About this workshop:

Participants will learn creative ideas on making your own low-waste, thoughtful gifts. This is a hands-on workshop and participants will make and take home a gift at the end of the workshop, such as a succulent planter gift, and tasty no-bake treats (vegan and gluten-free, however please note there will be nuts including almonds, walnuts or cashews).

What to bring:

  • If you have an old medium-sized bowl to use or offer to others in the workshop for the succulent planting activity, please bring it along. This can make your DIY gifts more personalised too.

  • Your local buy-nothing groups or second-hand stores may also be a good place to find bowls for repurposing.

  • Please BYO reusable water bottle.

Reusable fabric gift wrapping techniques and furoshiki with Casper Dorrington (Wrap Happy Co)

Time: 11:45 AM - 12:45 PM

About this workshop:

Participants will learn the beauty and benefits of reusable fabric giftwrap. There will be demonstrations of how to wrap common gift shapes, and participants will get a chance to practice using fabric to giftwrap a range of object shapes and sizes. Participants will get a fabric furoshiki wrap to take home.

What to bring:

  • Materials will be provided in the workshop to practice the demonstrated wrapping techniques, however you may like to bring some old fabric pieces or tea towels to experiment with too.

  • Please BYO reusable water bottle.
