Explore creativity first-hand on Saturday 8 November, 10am – 4pm, as M16 Artspace opens its doors for its annual Open Day. 

Since its establishment in 1985, M16 Artspace has been a vibrant hub for artistic expression, inclusivity, and community in Canberra. The Open Day offers a unique behind-the-scenes opportunity to meet artists, visit studios, and connect with local community art organisations. 

Discover our current exhibitions featuring works by M16 Artspace resident studio artists, alumni, and community groups. 

This event is presented as part of the 2025 Craft + Design Canberra Open Studios + Organisations Open Day. 

What’s On? 

10am - 2pm Get coffee and a snack from the Coffee Collective pop up 

11am - 2pm Drop-in to experiment with cyanotypes led by Claire Fletcher. Open to everyone - by donation.  

11:30am - 12:30pm & 2:30pm - 3:30pm Join Operations Manager Gillian Anderson for a guided walkthrough, visiting community organisations and artists’ studios.   

1pm Head to Gallery 1 for artist talks from the 40x40 Anniversary Exhibition and Auction artists. 

4pm Fundraising auction bidding closes

Parking: M16 Artspace has free parking and dedicated disability parking spots outside the entrance. 

Wheelchair access: Ramp access at the entrance of M16, however this can be too narrow for some wheelchair users. If this proves to be the case the studio access entrance has no stairs and connects directly to the gallery, please contact us for more information!  

Bathrooms: We have one wheelchair access and gender-neutral bathroom behind the lobby in addition to two gendered bathrooms.
