Join us for an afternoon of poetry, storytelling, music, and creative performance by neurodivergent and disabled artists.
Hosted by Sanjay Lago, this relaxed showcase brings together poetry, music, storytelling, and creative performance from a diverse line-up of artists.
Featuring:
Alasdair Watson – spoken word poetry inspired by Scottish culture, nostalgia, and the fantastical
Peter Johnstone – original songs about love, friendship, and the absurdity of life
Sarah Heitler – spoken word poetry with wit, honesty, and a commitment to the bit
Tem Rae Wilder – lyrical performance and storytelling rooted in deep thought, deep feeling, and social justice
mother tongues – a neurodivergent, trans-led string ensemble performing folk and roots music from around the world
Ocean Teal – multidisciplinary artist and spoken word poet exploring authenticity, empowerment, and connection
Expect a welcoming afternoon of diverse voices, creative perspectives, and original work from some of Glasgow's most exciting neurodivergent and disabled artists.

*What is a Relaxed Performance?
Relaxed performances are designed to reduce some of the barriers that can make attending arts events difficult. The house lights will be higher, the sound levels lower. Audience members are welcome to move around, leave and re-enter the space, use fidget tools, make noise, stim, or engage with the event in the way that works best for them. A selection of sensory tools - ear defenders, fidgets, wobble cushions etc - will be provided.
This performance is BSL interpreted.

Lineup
Sanjay Lago - Host
Sanjay is a Punjabi Scottish Actor, Writer, Comedian, Educator and Host. He has been in the industry for over 15 years. He trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He has worked on both stage and screen and also educational theatre in schools and prisons. His work explores themes of race, sexuality, mental health and neurodiversity to name a few. He has worked in stage and screen and with theatre companies across the UK. He made his Scottish debut with his show “Love Me Like A Chai Tea Latte” at Assembly Roxy. The show also won him the Highly Commended Male Performer Award at the Asian Arts Awards, The Somewhere For Us Unicorn Arts Award and most recently was awarded the Performer/Entertainer of the Year at The 2026 Proud Scotland Awards His other works have been longlisted and won awards. He was Longlisted for the Tony Craze award at Soho Theatre and also longlisted for the David Maclennan Award at Play Pie and Pint at Glasgow. He was the John Mather Trust Rising Star of Scotland recipient with support from National Theatre of Scotland, developing his play "Floating Along Silently", all about male mental health. He is currently developing a couple of other projects, such as an Indian Horror Comedy play in early stages. As well as creating new work incorporating dance and song. He is also currently undertaking a part time masters in Arts Education. When not performing or being creative, Sanjay loves to eat food, read books, watching Doctor Who or watch movies with his odeon card.
Tem Rae Wilder
Tem Rae Wilder is a queer, disabled, and neurodivergent writer and play artist based in Glasgow, Scotland. They create lyrical and phenomenological works for all ages rooted in deep thought, deep feels, and a deep commitment to the pursuit of social justice.
Sarah Heitler
Sarah Heitler is a Glasgow based poet and a regular in the local spoken word scene. She also hosts the Poetry at Sweeneys open mic. The (to quote her friends) “definition of a disaster lesbian”, Sarah tries her best to commit to the bit. This shows in in her work...
Peter Johnstone
Peter Johnstone is an artist and musician from Bathgate now living in Govanhill. His music is about love, friendship and the absurdity of life. He has released two eps and an album under his own name and is currently working with a new band called “the Lairy Shelley’s”
Alasdair Watson
Alasdair is a Glaswegian photographer, artist, and writer, who creates photos, poems, and stories which explore ideas like the environment, nostalgia, loneliness, imperfection, and impermanence. He is self-taught and neurodivergent, and these experiences underpin his creative practice, which is interdisciplinary, ever evolving, and rooted in Scottish culture, nerd culture, the Scots Language, and the Scottish literary tradition of blending surreal and fantastical elements with stark realism.
Mother Tongues
mother tongues is a neurodivergent, trans-led string ensemble that plays folk and roots music from around the world. We combine our international origins with a shared love of classical music, making unique arrangements of tunes from around the world along with original music. Ocean Teal
Ocean Teal (they/them) is a professional photographer, educator and a multidisciplinary artist. In their work, they focus on authenticity, empowerment and social justice. They use art as a tool for advocacy, self-discovery and connection. Ocean holds a BA in Fine Art Photography from the Glasgow School of Art.
