Make Do and Mend Workshop
Event description
A workshop covering the sustainable fashions visible mending phenomenon, hemming, darning, patching, button replacement – some alterations may not be possible, so it is best to bring a couple of projects.
Domestic machines are available with those who have experience; however, our helpful trainers have abundant ideas on how to mend without the use of a sewing machine.
Attendees will learn visible mending techniques, invisible mending, button replacement and blind hem repairing woven, knitwear and other hand stitch methods
Attendees should bring along their own garments or home textiles for mending, yarn or embroidery threads, ribbons, patches and other pretty things to match compliment or contrast. Some materials, needles and sewing basics will also be available on the day.
An embroidery hoop or a darning mushroom is helpful but not essential
