Daniel Leone is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Canberra ACT, Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country. Daniel is inspired by the local ecology where grasslands and eucalypt forests dominate. Through ceramics, sculpture, bonsai and woodworking, Daniel seeks to capture and create awareness of the surrounding country. Daniel sees his practice as a collaboration with nature, often incorporating found and salvaged objects into his work.
Daniel studied ceramics at the ANU School of Art & Design and Fine Furniture Making at the Sturt School for Wood. He was the recipient of the 2022 National Capital Art Prize’s People’s Choice Award, and has received a number of awards and grants, including the Emerging Artist Grant from CAPO (Capital Arts Patrons’ Organisation), and the ANU School of Art & Design EASS Canberra Potters Exhibition Award. His work has been widely exhibited and can be seen at Pepite, Melbourne and at Grainger Gallery, Canberra.
