Making a Monster – writing workshop with Stuart Orr

Monsters have always fascinated us. What do they reveal about our darkest selves? How can battling them show us our brightest?

In Making a Monster, local teacher and writer Stuart Orr will guide you in examining some of the great literary monsters from world literature, from the ancient Minotaur to Victorian vampires, up to the sci-fi beasts we battle today. You will consider how they express the fears of their age, and how their writers also crafted the heroes and heroines their worlds needed to defend them.

Finally, you’ll invent a monster of your own, and the weapon you need to vanquish it (or set it free!).
