Maroochy Catchment - Global Earth Exchange 15 Jun 24
Event description
We are connected. Join us at the end of the Maroochy catchment to remember and celebrate Maroochy River and her tributaries.
This is a Global Earth Exchange Radical Joy for Hard Times event - where we practice holding the ugly and beautiful, joy and sorrow together in a simple ceremony/catch-up/flash-mob/ephemeral art installation.
We will spend time along Cornmeal Creek and the Maroochy (Mara-kutchi) River. Sharing and recognising the beautiful and hard stories of these waters past, present and future - Kabi Kabi / Gubbi Gubbi custodianship, colonisation and development, destruction of mangroves, roads and shopping centre that bridges the waters, the human and more-than-human beings that live, meet, sing, learn, swim and eat together here now, and what and who might come after us.
We will gather, wander, share and create. You might choose to wear colours of the river, ocean, sand or mangroves - blues, browns, neutrals or greens.
If the weather is favourable you will be invited to bring a picnic or barbeque offering to share a sunset dinner together afterwards.
