Maths in the Kitchen 4 Teenagers- fractions, decimals and %, Geelong
Event description
Learn how to simplify, add & subtract fractions, and do conversions to decimals and percentages the easy and fun way- in the kitchen!
Learn it once and never forget it!
This fun, educational, and practical cooking class will give your teenager a numeracy and confidence boost in essential skills before school starts in 2024.
One of the big ideas in Mathematics and essential numerical skills, that is lacking in many students is the concept of equality and conversion. Many students never get a hands-on concrete example in school or at home to cognitively connect the dots to understand fractions, decimals, and percentages. Let alone, do students get quality time with a numeracy improvement specialist teacher and mindset expert- the host, Ruth Hibburt; famous for her empathetic ‘out of the box’ creative thinking and holistic approach to learning.
In this workshop your teenager will participate in hands on activities using fractions, decimals and percentages using food and baking ingredients to fully understand these critically important mathematical concepts. Your teenager will also integrate their learning in an event workbook, which they can keep and take home.
All teenagers attending will receive a certificate of completion for this workshop from the Inclusive Learning Foundation, signed by Ruth Hibburt.
All teenagers will take the food they bake home and/or eat for afternoon tea. We will do our best to cater for dietary requirements, such as gluten free.
