Maximising Drought Resilience With Natural Capital Opportunities

Event description

Co-designing our own decision support tool for competitive advantage in ESG*, carbon and biodiversity markets

About the events and tool:
As pressure mounts on farming communities to comply with supply chain ESG* demands, decarbonisation and reversing biodiversity impacts, we are flipping the focus.

Could our productive inland river delta; a forested biodiversity hotspot, a massive carbon sink of hundreds of on-farm wetlands combined with a sophisticated gravity-fed irrigation system, be Australia's best location for environmental market investment? Could we command the highest premium in the country?

Even in drought?

WMLIG is bringing together top national and local experts in carbon and biodiversity markets, drought resilience, green lending and nature repair to support our farmer-led co-design of a valuable decision support tool.

We need you!

How can farmers maximise economic, social and natural returns for our region and for individual enterprises in dry times?

Join WMLIG and Christophe Bur, a cattle farmer, pioneering carbon farmer and environmental market expert, with a speciality in facilitating farmer-led solutions to big challenges.

With your help we can co-design our own custom decision support tool to:

  • Understand our regional and individual farm natural capital advantages
  • Select and focus on drought resilience priorities in the preparation and management of natural capital projects
  • Help build capacity for environmental asset and transaction co-design
  • Be aware of and plan for our buyers' ESG (*environmental, social and governance) pressures on our businesses
  • Determine how aggregated projects could give us a competitive advantage and diversified drought income
