    Event description

Go Dutch with Gerbrand and Lisa of High Culture Cheeses for a ‘gezellige’ night in the village. They're going to treat you to some seasonal Dutch delights. It’s the beginning of winter in the Netherlands and a time of many celebrations. Hearty food is on the menu. Chefs Lisa and G and their Dutchy whānau will take you to the Lowlands with:

‘Snert’ Pea Soup (traditionally eaten from stalls on frozen rivers and lakes to cater the ice skaters)

‘Zuurkool Stamppot’ with Tahu Goreng and Bumbu Kacang (a fusion of Dutch and Indonesian cuisine; Sauerkraut mashed potatoes with satay tofu and spicy peanut sauce)

‘Griesmeel Pudding met Bessensaus’ (Pearl millet pudding with berry coulis)

And yes there will be ‘Pepernoten’ after dessert.

    About us:

A few years ago graphic designer Gerbrand van Melle (G) and leadership coach Lisa Markwick started making nut based cheese. After having been vegan for a few years they missed the taste and ritual of eating really good cheese. Through many experiments they found something they loved. Friends loved it too. Friends became clients. And friends of friends. And now High Culture is available at shops around the island and at the Saturday market.

All nut cheeses are hand made in small batches from high quality organic ingredients in their nut cheese atelier just above Palm Beach. The nuts are activated and cultured to perfection and blended with carefully curated herbs and spices.
