Join Social Walks Outdoor enthusiast and guide Adam for another amazing Social Walk as we hike the Lerderderg Heritage River walk and Ottie Track circuit in the Beautiful Wombat State Forest!

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Wombat State Forest, located approximately 50 kilometers west of Melbourne, is a significant protected area renowned for its rich biodiversity and many recreational opportunities. Spanning about 70,000 hectares, the forest is situated between Woodend and Daylesford, encompassing some beautiful parts of the Great Dividing Range.

As the forest straddles the Great Dividing Range, extending from Creswick to Mount Macedon and some Notable geological features within the forest include extinct volcanoes such as Mount Babbington, Mount Wilson, and Blue Mount! 

Wombat State Forest is also ecologically diverse, hosting a variety of flora and fauna. With plenty of native plants and wildlife to see!!

START TIME AND MEET LOCATION

Meeting Location: Simmons Reef Rd Carpark (start of Whipstick Loop Walk)

Meeting Time: Arrive 9:30am for a 10:00am Departure.

WHAT TO BRING

- Water (at least 2-3L)

- Snacks and food for the hike

- Money to buy lunch at a pub/cafe after in Blackwood

WHAT TO WEAR

- Comfortable Walking Shoes

- Comfortable Weather Suitable Clothing (check weather the night before). 

- Hat / Sunglasses & Sun Protection

FINISH

The Hike should take around 3.5 hours with small breaks to enjoy some sightseeing. 

We finish back where we started where we can gather to then head to a local cafe or pub.
