***Back by popular demand!*** Our first Otways & 12 Apostles Camping Trip sold out in just 3 hours so be quick to avoid disappointment!
Join us for our next Social Walks Expedition on Saturday the 26th of October as we head to The world famous Great Otways National Park and Great Ocean Road for an epic over night camping trip with world class hikes on the Saturday and Sunday. The absolutely epic campground we have secured for our trips is also a Koala habitat so we will literally be sleeping under trees with Koalas!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an over night camping trip and you will be required to bring your own food supplies and camping gear. We have a very limited number of tickets where camping equipment is provided. The equipment provided is a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat and camping pillow only.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The Great Otways National Park & Great Ocean Road is one of the most iconic tourist destinations in Australia, famous the world over. You won't be disappointed by the stunning and picturesque views of the bass straight, the 12 Apostles, and the stunning rain forests teeming with wild life like Koala, Wallabies, Kangaroos, echidnas and more!
The group will meet at St Albans Station on the Saturday morning (see details to below) and from there we will convoy (by car) to the camp site in the Otways - around 3 hours drive.
(NOTE FOR CARPOOLERS: If you need to organise a ride for this event, feel free to post in our Melbourne Social Walks Facebook group - but please note - you are responsible for your own transport to and from this event).
Once we arrive at the campsite, we will set up camp and then relax for a long lunch before heading off for our first hike.
After the first hike, we will head back to the camp site to cook up dinner and have a good old fashioned campfire.
On the Sunday morning, we will rise early have breakfast, pack up the campsite and then hit the road to Princetown for our second hike.
After the second hike is complete, we will convoy to Colac for late afternoon / early dinner before heading home to Melbourne.
ABOUT THE CAMPSITE
The campsite has a fully equipped camp kitchen, bathroom, toilets and shower facilities.
There are free BBQS, gas cookers, microwaves, kettles, a large commercial fridge and a wood fired oven that we can use.
Please note you need to supply all eating and cooking utensils.
THE HIKES
Hike 1 (Saturday) - Station Beach & Crayfrish Bay Hike - Moderate 12kms - 250M Elevation (undulating)
Hike 2 (Sunday) - Great Ocean Walk (12 Apostles & Gibson Steps) - Moderate 12kms - 250M Elevation (undulating)
Please note - A reasonable level of fitness is require for these hikes.
START TIME AND MEET LOCATION
Meeting Location: St Albans Train Station (Car Park)
Meeting Time: Arrive between 8:00am-8:20am for a 8:30am Sharp Departure.
NOTE: The Train Station is only the meeting location. We will be driving to the Otways by car convoy. Arriving on time is critical to the Event getting away on time. Participants not checked-in by 8:20am may be left behind.
CARPOOLING: Need help finding a ride to the hike, feel free to post in the Melbourne Social Walks Facebook Group.
WHAT TO BRING
- Water (at least 2-4L for each hike) - Water is available at the Campsite.
- Lunches and Snack food for both days/hikes
- Food & Drinks for Dinner Saturday night and Breakfast Sunday Morning (items can be purchased from the campsite store and you also store food in the camp kitchen fridge).
- BYO Camping Equipment (Tent, Sleeping Bag, Pillow, Sleeping Mat, Camping Chair, Head Lamp/torch)
WHAT TO WEAR
- Comfortable Walking Shoes
- Comfortable Weather Suitable Clothing for 2 Days - Be prepared for cold weather conditions (check weather the night before)
- Hat / Sunglasses & Sun Protection / Beanie
- Bathers & Towel for a cold swim
FINISH
Plan for two full days of adventuring!
We will aim to leave The great ocean road around 3-4pm and return to Melbourne around 7pm -the event times are not always perfect, so please allow for a later return time.
