Men in the Hood
A safe space for men to connect, learn, and grow
The expectations placed on men - by society and themselves - are constantly evolving. It can be overwhelming to navigate personal and professional challenges while maintaining mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Men in the Hood is a proactive well-being initiative designed for men to learn practical self-care tools, aimed at increasing awareness and balance in their lives. Many men put self-care last, but this initiative offers a space where they can connect, pause, reflect, and grow in a safe and supportive environment.
Delivered in partnership by Justin Lewis (founder of MenTALL) and Victoria Park Community Centre, this program offers a series of experiences that help men to:
✅ Improve overall well-being
✅ Strengthen relationships and communication skills
✅ Reduce stress and build emotional resilience.
What to expect?
Men in the Hood provides three types of experiences:
🔹 Life Skills Sessions – Practical, hands-on activities to develop confidence and essential skills for everyday life.
🔹 Men’s Circles – Open, non-judgmental discussions where you can share, connect, and support other men like you.
🔹 Well-being Workshops – Interactive sessions focusing on mental, emotional, and physical self-care.
There are 9 experiences over 8 months. We recommend attending all 9 as each session builds on the one before. However, there are options available to attend single or multiple sessions, depending on your needs.
