Praised for her “pure musical alchemy” (Courier & Press) and performances “seemingly effortless and stunningly polished” (New York Concert Review), Meng Su is recognized worldwide as one of the guitar’s most captivating voices. Winner of the Parkening International Guitar Competition and a founding member of the acclaimed Beijing Guitar Duo, she has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw, and festivals across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. As a faculty member at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she is admired not only as a dazzling performer but also as an inspiring mentor to the next generation.
For this special recital at St. Mark’s, Meng Su brings together timeless classics, Romantic showpieces, and a thrilling world premiere. Audiences will experience the grace of Bach, the devotion of Barrios, the lyric passion of Tárrega, and the vibrant colors of Sergio Assad, along with a brand-new work by Viet Cuong written for the guitar’s evolving voice.
