Event description

Standard Mental Health First Aid Training (SMHFA)

2 x Saturdays (9:00am - 4:00pm), 9 November and 23 November, 2024

A course for adults supporting other adults in various life stages.

Do you know how to react or support a person who is struggling?

In a world where 2 in 5 young Australians face mental health challenges, learning Mental Health First Aid could offer the lifeline someone desperately needs.

Many people lack the knowledge and confidence to recognise and respond effectively to mental health issues.

This training teaches people how to recognise signs of mental health problems, provide initial support, and guide people towards appropriate professional help.

Heal.ed Tribe's Mental Health First Aid provides participants the skills and knowledge that could save a life, just like completing a Physical First Aid course.

Qualifications

On successful completion of this course, you will receive Mental Health First Aid certification, which is accredited by Mental Health Australia and valid for 3 years.

What you will learn

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses, offered by Heal.ed Tribe, provide evidence-based training to equip individuals with skills to recognise and respond to mental health challenges.

The SHMFA course consists of 12 hours of mandatory content.

Modules cover a range of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance use problems, and crisis situations such as suicidal thoughts and behaviours, panic attacks, and acute stress reaction.

Heal.ed Tribe’s MHFA training is co-facilitated by Mental Health First Aid Australia accredited trainers, including practitioners working in the mental health space and young people with their own lived experience of mental illness. This provides a unique, relatable perspective that transforms theoretical knowledge into practical, life-saving skills.
