    Knowledge is power and having an understanding of how our nervous systems are built and structured, why we think and behave the way we do, through self-observation (mindfulness practices) is an effective self-awareness and self- regulating strategy that gives us the ability to recognise we don’t have to stay captive to the inevitable stresses and strains of parenting and our own unexamined reactivity and behaviours.

    We can take action and commit to understanding the basics of how our brains develops, ‘works’, how the nervous system functions and interacts with the external world and your own inner world, including your children. In this workbook we provide information and activities and practices to establish a mindful way of living that leads to increased awareness of the triggers that send us into overwhelm, a deeper understanding of our inner world of thoughts and feelings, recognise we have the ability to change and grow and importantly assist our children to build a healthy, aware relationship to their inner lives where so much of our lives are lived.

    In her talk Rita will give practical tips on activities and exercises that even the busiest parent can introduce to help the child build resilience and cultivate emotional intelligence.
