Mindfulness Art - Abstract Dot Painting
Event description
Calm your mind and practise mindfulness with Abstract Dot Painting.
Where: YMCA Springfield Lakes Community Centre, 53 Springfield Lakes Blvd, 4300
When: Saturday 26th September, 10.30am to 12.30pm
Following on from the successful Dot Painting Mandala Workshops, we’re offering a free-flow, organic style of dot painting with this workshop.
What do we mean?
Well, instead of the symmetrical mandala pattern you often see, you’ll free-draw a large random intertwining squiggle with pencil on the supplied rectangular canvas board. Then, with the guidance of the tutor, you will proceed to fill in the spaces and along the intersecting lines with dots of various sizes and colours, creating a wonderful piece of abstract art.
Warning: Doing this type of dot art is seriously addictive!!
The art may be a representation of a sunset behind hills or multiple stylised flowers, or have a seaside feel or look like a starry night. Anything goes, it’s as much about enjoying the process and exploring your feelings as it is about creating something unique and fun.
We will supply printouts of other similar types of artwork for inspiration and supply everything you need.
This is a wonderful art form that encourages relaxation and mindfulness, which is what The.BE.CreativeSpace is mostly about (though we love doing art too).
What do you have to bring? – Just yourselves and a bottle of water to drink!
All the art tools and materials will be supplied including dotting tools, paints, canvas board, inspiration sheets and me, your tutor.
There is a COVID precaution plan in place adhering to the YMCA rules, and plenty of space to spread out for social distancing. We have completed the Government COVID online training.
This workshop is limited to only 8 people aged 18 and over. So book early.
Please arrive a few minutes before 10.30am to get settled.
About your tutor – Lisa is a certified art therapy facilitator and a certified meditation guide with a background in several holistic therapies and natural nutrition.
Her philosophy is that the body and mind cannot heal if it’s in a state of DIS-STRESS. Creating with art, practising mindfulness and meditation are really helpful for our modern-day mental health ailments like stress, anxiety and depression.
Currently, Lisa is part-way through her certification in Mindfulness Teaching. She is a self-taught artist, dog lover, nature appreciator and spiritual observer.
